Blue birds are back - Acrylic, ashes and paper on canvas, 100x100 cm, 2019
About this painting
This one-meter-by-one-square format is very intense blue in shape, distributed over the entire surface and of various sizes. Geometric and fairly sharp, they can evoke different stages of movement of the wings of a bird flying. On the whole, they seem to indicate a group flight, while leaving free interpretation.
The light background is composed of pink, yellow or blue keys. The texture is quite pronounced and reveals in places superimposed masses (like the red rectangle in the lower left corner) or thicknesses caused by the absorbent paper mixed with acrylic paint.
In this painting, I experimented with the mixture of ashes to my usual mix. This allows the texture to evolve by adding granularity and softness to the color rendition that I will certainly be looking into in the future.
